Layla J. Dougherty was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Ms. Dougherty graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a B.M.A. in violin performance in 1996 and a J.D. in 2000. While at the University of Oklahoma, she was a board member for the Oklahoma Advancement for Women in Law and received various academic achievement awards. Ms. Dougherty has served as Vice-President and President of the Oklahoma City Commercial Lawyers Association, and is Chair of the Board of Directors for the Bankruptcy and Re-Organization Section of the Oklahoma Bar Association. Ms. Dougherty has been a presenter for the Federal Bar Association, Oklahoma Bar Association and the National Business Institute. Ms. Dougherty’s practices are concentrated in business litigation, commercial law, construction law, debtor-creditor relations and insolvency and bankruptcy law. She is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Federal Bar Association and the National Association for Chapter 13 Trustees. Ms. Dougherty is a member of the Oklahoma Bar and is admitted to practice in all three Oklahoma federal districts as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
